Our two-bedroom cottage suite offered an abundance of space, ensuring everyone had ample room to relax and unwind. This expansive suite featured two exquisitely appointed bedrooms, a comfortable living area complete with a sofa bed, two pristine bathrooms, and a dedicated dining space. My mother, a seasoned traveler, enthusiastically declared the beds at The Ranch to be the most comfortable hotel beds she had ever experienced—a high commendation indeed!
The interior design and decor at The Ranch left a lasting impression. It perfectly captures that quintessential California beachy-rustic aesthetic that I adore, characterized by its fresh, clean lines and inviting warmth. The highly acclaimed Junior Rangers Kids Camp operates through September 5th, presenting a fresh and exciting theme every day, Monday through Saturday. Our visit coincided with a Friday, allowing us to partake in the fascinating “Birds of Prey” program. The rescue owl featured in the demonstration was undeniably the cutest creature, and its handler was exceptionally skilled and patient with the children. We gleaned so much valuable information about these magnificent birds from just a few minutes of attentive listening, proving both entertaining and educational.
While the main restaurant was still undergoing its final touches during our visit, the temporary dining facilities offered a tantalizing preview of what’s to come. The views from both the temporary and soon-to-open main restaurant are simply spectacular, overlooking the verdant and picturesque Ben Brown’s Golf Course. We anticipate the completed restaurant will be a culinary masterpiece, perfectly complementing the resort’s natural beauty.

Our visit was blessed with ideal weather, with temperatures hovering around a perfect 80 degrees Fahrenheit, lingering warmly into the evenings. The sky was an uninterrupted expanse of azure, and from almost any vantage point in Laguna Beach, we were treated to captivating glimpses of the majestic Pacific Ocean.

These peanut buttery, flaky, and utterly delicious treats were the perfect antidote after our long drive, providing a much-needed burst of energy. I’m already planning to try and recreate them in my own kitchen! While the main restaurant was still in progress, the dedication to quality ingredients and delightful flavors was evident in every bite we had at The Ranch’s temporary dining options and its charming Ben’s Pantry. We anticipate the fully opened restaurant will feature a farm-to-table philosophy, celebrating local produce and fresh seafood, perfectly encapsulating the Southern California culinary spirit.
Urth Caffe has long been on my list of must-try restaurants, and experiencing it in Laguna Beach did not disappoint. True to its name, this “earthy” establishment passionately commits to beautiful, sustainable, and organic ingredients, a philosophy that shines through in every dish. Their lattes, in particular, are not just beverages but works of art—each one simply gorgeous and exquisitely crafted. Beyond coffee, Urth Caffe offers an extensive menu of organic heirloom coffees and fine teas, along with delectable breakfast, lunch, and dinner options that range from healthy salads and sandwiches to decadent pastries, all prepared with an emphasis on fresh, wholesome, and ethically sourced components.
